I note that the University of Wales Institute (UWIC) has recently been discussing a formal association with other institutions all over Wales except Glamorgan. How will such moves overcome the basic problem that Glamorgan and UWIC are competing in the same region? Would it be better for UWIC and Glamorgan to merge rather than one of them forming distant associations outside of the SE Region?
